This Week In Sanity: Queen of the Plague Rats

I have been sick for a week (not COVID-19) and engaging in non-voluntary bathroom activities one should not speak of publicly. Hoping to be back in the swing of things next week.

I don't know about you, but I am VERY excited to be writing about a group of people who seem hell-bent on creating a vaccine-resistant variant of COVID-19. I'm even more excited to be writing about COVID-19 in general. AGAIN! FOR ANOTHER YEAR!

In some good news, and potentially bad news, Anchorage has four staffed ICU beds available today, which is a nice increase from yesterday's zero—but of course, it won't be good news if today's availability came as the result of patients dying. I guess we'll find out Monday or Tuesday!

Queen of the Plague Rats

Eagle River Assemblywoman Jamie Allard appears to be working harder than usual to rattle the conspiracy theorists in various online social media groups. This should not be found surprising as this is the woman who defended Nazi terminology earlier this year. I know Alaska has a short-term memory when it comes to Anchorage politics, but it's not something we should ever forget.

So icky.

In Open Alaska and Save Anchorage, groups part of an affiliated network of social media groups, Allard writes that "we" (whoever that is) can raise money to “take on the ASD.”

The Queen of the Plague Rats wrote to Save Anchorage that she has a "team setting up the donation page," which will be used to solicit funds for (I'm guessing) suing the Anchorage School District.

Related: Allard: “It’s Time to Fully Take on the ASD. Get Ready!” (May 2021).

We'll have to see how Allard's fundraising efforts go. I'm sure she knows some well-to-do Anchorage doctors that might want to contribute to her new pet cause. Paging "Captain Villain!"

As an aside, people associated with the Anchorage Gospel Rescue Mission have "liked" comments made by Allard in the Save Anchorage group regarding her fundraising efforts and have been commenting on my Facebook page in what appears to be an attempt to run cover or minimize or explain away—monster Robert Marbut who the Bronson administration recently hired to advise the city on homelessness.

Marbut is the kind of individual who believes not feeding the homeless is best for cities across the country.

Anyway, Allard is also displeased over Credit Union 1's decision to mandate mask-wearing among their employees, posting to Facebook that she was "shocked" she could not see one smile!

It seems it's difficult for her to remember that smiles are difficult to find when one is INTUBATED.

Oh, who cares? It's all older people getting sick anyway, right? Nope!

In short, yes, businesses may require and mandate the use of facemasks in the workplace, particularly as a preventative measure against the spread of COVID-19. In fact, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has issued guidelines that indicate an employer may require employees to wear a face mask to reduce transmission. Source

Liberty doesn't mean freedom to infect other people Jamie.

If this were any other politician, I'd be surprised by these posts and comments, but then again, this is a woman supportive of a group whose membership comprises those who believe the COVID-19 vaccine has "nanotechnologies" in them. But practicing anti-maskism is only a part-time hobby of Allard who is also seeking to "rally the forces" for next year's election. It's all so militant sounding, isn't it?

We should be careful though—it's not like a member of Save Anchorage was ever arrested by the FBI for their alleged role in the January 6 armed Capitol Hill Insurrection. Oh. Wait. It's also not like the group has ever made violent overtures before either. Oh. Wait.

Yikes!

Stay tuned. The amount of Allard content coming down the pike is sure to be voluminous with all this COVID-19 floating around the state.

Astroturf Well, Astroturf Often

It seems like it was only yesterday that Anchorage School District Superintendant Dr. Deena Bishop was trying to cram children and employees into schools without masks or vaccines, but this year Dr. Bishop has done a complete 180 on mask-wearing! It's a miracle, I tell you! I'm sure her new position on universal masking has to do with the CDC guidelines for reopening schools and absolutely nothing to do with a newly elected Progressive School Board that could oust her on a moment's notice.

I feel like Dr. Bishop has been treading a fine line though after not being selected as UAA's new Chancellor and after voters ousted Bishop loyalists on the school board, instead choosing to elect Progressives in April. But, without question, Dr. Bishop has been taking a lot of flak from far-right groups like Save Anchorage and Alaska Parents' Rights in Education who have ramped up their anti-Bishop rhetoric after the school board rolled with her recommended COVID-19 mitigation strategies.

Members of Alaska Parents' Rights in Education (APRE)—so upset about the school district's position on mask-wearing—have asked whether acting like a bunch of unhinged lunatics would be a tactic they could employ at the next school board meeting!

After all, there's nothing more persuasive than acting more infantile than your infant. Factaroo. I also hope the school board is planning on having some kind of security at this week's board meeting.

APRE really is nothing more than a cesspool of misinformation about masks, COVID-19 vaccines, and COVID-19 itself. The group twists and distorts anything scientifically sound—bending reality to their own demented personal political agenda and whipping members up into a Lora Reinbold-sized "constitutional" feeding frenzy.

Even Facebook, a "Conservative" safe haven for COVID-19 misinformation, has flagged posts made by APRE members as false or partly false "information."

CO2 monitors? Oh sure, bring them to the next school board meeting—better yet, bring some OSHA document that has been twisted and misinterpreted by a 15-year-old and posted to a website hosted in Russia while you're at it. Super persuasive!

Anyway, the group is hoping that 400 plague rats will attend the next school board meeting in an apparent bid to (checks notes) bully/force the school district into dropping its universal mask mandate which would almost certainly lead to the spread of COVID-19 throughout schools and the city.

Keep it classy, APRE!

Plague Rat Anti-Vax Rally Part II

A flyer shared to the “Save Anchorage” group of political activists states that another anti-vaccine mandate rally will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at 5 pm in front of the Alaska Native Health Campus.

Just what ANMC needs, more entitled white people from the valley telling them what they should and should not be doing. Not much else to say here other than the "rally" was shared to "Save Anchorage" by a "Save Anchorage" member. Goodness.

Rummaging through information I see that the Foo Fighters will require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test for entry to Alaska shows. Remember this very timely tweet for later—
