This Week in Insanity June 26, 2021
It's the last week of Pride Month, and Alaskans are celebrating equality across our diverse state. Businesses are also celebrating, and Mad Myrna's will be party central tonight after the Coronavirus pandemic spoiled last year's festivities.
Speaking publicly for what is believed to be the first time since the April election about the failed recall effort, Assemblyman Felix Rivera told onlookers at the raising of the Pride Flag in front of City Hall that the recall effort mounted against him was "without a doubt, a homophobic attempt to take out an Assemblymember," adding "thankfully it failed handily" as the group of onlookers applauded.
Reclaim Midtown, a big uber-critic of Anchorage Press but who seems to read it a lot, posted a screenshot of the above to Save Anchorage. The group, which is definitely not homophobic and should never be referred to as a hateful group, didn't react well to Rivera's statement, with group members likely still feeling the pain from their epic April defeat at the polls, the results of which some have referred to as "fraudulent."
Rivera's words about the failed recall effort so moved one group member that he turned Rivera into "Super Zero!"
Another Save Anchorage Pride Celebrator said that Rivera was "heterophobic," making the wild claim without any proof to back up her statement. (Spreading baseless bullshit is a very Save Anchorage tactic). Eleven people in the group thought this person was spot on in her assessment of Rivera, WHICH USED MORE CAPITAL LETTERS THAN NATE CRAWFORD DOES.
After seeing the image and the subsequent comments, I couldn't help but wonder what other words Save Anchorage members enjoyed using! The Blue Alaskan was very excited to learn more from the well-rounded group, which has nothing but love and respect for gay people.
As it turns out, some members of Save Anchorage had very hurtful things to say about Acting Mayor Austin Quinn-Davidson, which made The Blue Alaskan very sad.
At least one person was honest and forthcoming enough to ask what the "QIA" stood for at the end of the initialism "LGBT." Another Save Anchorage member was happy to help educate them

Don't worry, though. Far-right blogs are actively working to spread words of acceptance and inclusivity in Save Anchorage, teaching everyone the power that can be found in accepting people different from themselves. The Alaska Watchman's efforts to 'educate' Save Anchorage's totally non-astroturfed membership backfired after a group member appeared to have concluded that a drag queen is the equivalent of a pedophile!
Save Anchorage moderators and administrators even permitted an event to be shared in the group. Indoctrination? Goodness! Nothing like using children as a weapon against Drag Queens!! This is what people are afraid of after accusing sane people of being "fearful" of Covid? Are they fearful of Drag Queens?
Internationally known Eagle River Assemblymember Jamie Allard, once a group member, has promoted herself as a proud member of Save Anchorage! Everyone, please congratulate Ms. Allard on her self-promotion!
This graphic was recently scrubbed from the 'Free Alaska' website, although I can't quite put my finger on why the people behind Free Alaska would do that. Mysterious.
Earlier this year, the "sister group" to Save Anchorage, Open Alaska, was "heavily shadowbanned by the ministry of truth," whatever the hell that is. Anyway, it looks like they're on Telegram now, which, as you know, is two steps beneath Parler. It's a super enlightening post too! Flood the Community Councils? Sounds Biblical!!
You know your group is doing super well when you resort to using a service where Qanon adherents and White Lives Matters flunkies make their home. Well done.
