Update: Gaining steam. Recall Jamie Allard group reaches fundraising goal. Will file recall petition Monday

Updated October 20, 2021:

Earlier this year, the Recall Jamie Allard group raised $869 when they began their recall efforts. Since raising those funds, the recall group switched their fundraising platform from Fundly to Donorbox.

Since moving to the group's new Donorbox fundraising platform, the recall group fundraised $5,054.60 on that specific platform.

On October 16, the date this post was published, the total amount the group raised between the two platforms was 5,914.60.

An organizer with the Recall Jamie Allard (RJA) group announced this evening that they have reached their first fundraising goal of $5,000.

According to the group's donation page, the true grassroots effort has raised $5,054.60.

RJA formed after Assembly Member Allard became embroiled in a scandal that resulted in a lengthy news cycle surrounding her defense of Nazi terminology seen on two Alaska vanity license plates, which resulted in Alaska Governor Michael Dunleavy removing Allard from her position on the Human Rights Commission.

One of the four petitions for recall alleges Allard committed misconduct in office on January 12th, 2021 by Violating EO-17, an emergency order intended to protect the health and safety of Anchorage citizens which, you know, sounds pretty familiar.

An email obtained by RJA via public records request appears to show that Allard knew a member of the public had snuck into the Assembly Chambers last January. You can read about it at the link below.

In an email sent to The Blue Alaskan, the group said they will soon be seeking text/phone bank volunteers to help ensure they're able to reach every Chugiak/Eagle River voter. The group estimates this would require a 2 hour time commitment per week.

RJA is also asking business owners in Chugiak and Eagle River to consider allowing the group to set up signature collection tables in their businesses to help aid them in their recall efforts.

According to the email, the group will be filing the petitions on October 18 with the Anchorage Municipal Clerk who has 30 days to either certify or deny them.
