Jack & Jill Anchorage chapter to hold MLK Jr. Day food drive

The Anchorage Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., a membership organization encouraging philanthropy and civic engagement of African-American children and youth, will hold a drive-thru food drive on Monday, January 17, 2022, from 2-6 pm.
The organization is asking individuals to bring a canned or non-perishable food donation to the former ASD Administrative headquarters at 4600 Debarr Road.
The event is part of the nationwide 'Souper Bowl Day of Caring' and the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, "a day on, not a day off."
All food collected will benefit the Food Bank of Alaska, which has seen increased demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Terria Ware, the Chapter President and organizer of the event for Jack and Jill, was motivated to organize this event this year stating, "No one should go hungry, yet food insecurity is a growing concern for many Americans. The face of hunger has changed and it is not restricted to race, gender, age, or socio-economic status. The pandemic has left millions of Americans with uncertainty about where their next meal will come from. It is an honor to partner with other non-profit organizations who are on the frontlines helping to reduce hunger in our communities."
Please join the Jack and Jill Anchorage Chapter along with their community partners, such as the NAACP Anchorage Unit and Alpha Lodge No, 1, and bring your donation on Monday to help support the Food Bank of Alaska.
