Governor Dunleavy Draws Ire of Twitterers

Just days after Eagle River's international newsmaker announced it was time to "fully take on ASD," Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy announced that Critical Race Theory (CRT) is a "false narrative" and has "no place in Alaska schools."
Allard's original post was made to the Alaska Parents' Rights In Education Facebook Group, a radical right anti-LGBTQ parents' organization that claims LGBTQ+ activists groom children in school libraries and that teaching anti-racism curriculum in schools is racist and must not be taught.
The group has called for "hundreds" of supporters to show up at the Anchorage School District town hall Meeting on Wednesday.
According to Education Weekly, critical race theory is an academic concept that is more than 40 years old. The core idea is that racism is a social construct and that it is not merely the product of individual bias or prejudice but also something embedded in legal systems and policies.
Dunleavy's tweet criticizing CRT has not gone over well with the Alaska Twitterverse, which has harshly criticized him for today's tweet.
Alaska residents have called the governor a "slavery-denying tool," and others have told the governor he doesn't know enough about CRT to have an opinion. Other responses to Dunleavy's tweet have been less tame, accusing him of being a racist himself and gaslighting Alaskans further on an already divisive subject.
One Alaska resident responded to Dunleavy's tweet writing that critical race theory is "part of who we are. Trying to erase the past is the false narrative, not teaching the truth."
According to Axios, a Political Action Committee (PAC) launched today seeking to raise funds in support of school board candidates who oppose public schools teaching critical race theory. It is the first known national PAC to adopt such an endeavor. Ryan Girdusky is behind the new PAC and has worked as a political correspondent for One America News Network, which tells you all you need to know about the conservative-led effort.
