With over 50 co-hosts in attendance, Democratic candidate for Governor Les Gara will kickoff his gubernatorial campaign this Thursday, October 7, from 6–7:30 p.m. with a statewide Zoom fundraiser.
Former Sen. Hollis French, former Rep. Woodie Salmon, former Sen. Suzanne Little, Carl Jacobs and Anchorage assembly members Meg Zaletel and Suzanne LaFrance are just a few of the past and current politicians who plan on attending this Thursday's Zoom event.
In 2010, Gara wrote and passed amendments to save money and battle climate change. Today, all state, university and school buildings must be built to cost-effective energy efficiency standards which saves money, and reduces the emission of greenhouse gasses.
Gara believes that all Alaskans deserve equal rights, and by "all" Gara says he means equality regardless of your race or color or religion and equal rights regardless of whom people love. Gara has sponsored legislation supporting LGBTQ rights, and says he will always demand that Alaskans be treated equally. Gara says that “Liberty and Justice for All” isn’t just a phrase Alaskans should recite — it’s something we should do.
