Former Governor Knowles to host Thursday fundraiser for Gara

Former Alaska Governor Tony Knowles, Vic Fischer, and 90 other hosts from across Alaska will hold a Zoom fundraiser on Thursday, December 9, from 6:30-7:30 PM for Democratic candidate for governor Les Gara.

With the Republican party actively assaulting settled law, it's important to note that Gara is the only candidate running for governor who has always supported a woman's right to choose and equality for LGBT individuals.

On his campaign website, Gara says his opponents still prescribe to the outdated view that marriage should only be between a man and a woman. Gara says that while he respects former Governor Walker, he disagrees with his unsupportive opinions on equal rights and strongly objected when he allowed the then-attorney general to sue against the right of same-sex couples to get married in Alaska.

Registration is not required for the event, but Gara's campaign did note that Alaska's new donation limit is now $1,500 per donor per year because Gov. Dunleavy refused to defend the state's voter-passed $500 donation limit.
