Daughter of Joe Miller Reportedly Dies in Murder-Suicide

The Fairbanks Police Department issued a press release earlier in the week that details a gun-related incident the police department is calling a murder-suicide.

According to the press release, the Fairbanks Emergency Communication Center received a call that resulted in officers responding to an office located on the 200 block of Cushman asking officers to provide a welfare check.

When officers entered the office, police found a deceased adult female and a deceased adult male. Two children were also found (an infant and a six-year-old). Neither had visible injuries, according to the press release. The six-year-old reportedly used an iPad to contact a family member, who in turn dialed 911.

The victims have been identified as Heath Logan McCloskey and Katy Raye Higgins. Local reporting has revealed that the female victim is the daughter of Joe and Kathleen Miller of Fairbanks.

Joe Miller ran unsuccessfully against Lisa Murkowski for U.S. Senate in 2010 after Murkowski waged a well-coordinated write-in campaign.
