In a press release issued this morning, Anchorage Mayor David Bronson said that he had accepted the resignation of his former Chief of Staff Craig Campbell. In August, Bronson named failed school board candidate Sami Graham as Chief of Staff after the Anchorage Assembly voted down Graham’s appointment to head the Anchorage Public Library (APL).
In a press release issued on August 24, 2021, the Office of the Mayor wrote that Campbell would relinquish his role as Chief of Staff to serve as Director of Policy and Programs (whatever that is).
Campbell’s resignation from the Bronson Administration comes at a time when Anchorage’s former real estate director Christina Hendrickson recently announced she was suing Mayor Dave Bronson’s administration, alleging she was illegally fired after she made a whistleblower complaint to the Assembly.
According to today’s press release, Campbell will return to Alaska Aerospace (where he served as President and CEO from 2012 to 2019) to assist in the transition of senior leadership at the company with the goal of diversifying Alaska’s economy by increasing aerospace investments and operations in the state.
Karl Raskiewicz will move into the Mayor’s Office and Marilyn Banzhaf will become Acting OMB Director, according to the press release.
Campbells resignation is effective October 24, 2021.
