Conservative Accidentally Stumbles Into Correct Definition of "Gaslighting"

Save Anchorage member, Bronson supporter, and Eagle River Assembly Person Jamie Allard, who is likely to face a political recall of her own soon, took to Facebook this afternoon to publicly besmirch Assemblywoman Meg Zaletel, calling her "nuts."

Allard's comments were made on Facebook after she found out Zaletel would lay on the table a resolution encouraging Anchorage Mayor David Bronson to direct that masks or face coverings be required in public indoor areas of Municipal Buildings and to promote mitigation members when the Municipality of Anchorage is in "substantial risk" or "high alert" levels for community transmission of COVID-19.

Allard wrote that Zaletel's resolution was "full of lies" and that she "continues to make things up." Not many who saw the post before it was hidden knew what on Earth Allard was talking about.
It's a stunning but not unexpected series of statements for the crocheted mask crusader to make since she defended Nazi terminology seen on an Alaska vanity license plate earlier this year and after fabricating her own social media deplatforming when public outrage grew over the then-growing scandal.
Allard, who questioned whether she and Zaletel were in the "same meeting" (likely a reference to last week's COVID-19 briefing), appears to have neglected lengthy statements given by numerous doctors who detailed their concerns that Anchorage is facing a potential collapse of its healthcare system if the spread of COVID-19 is not slowed.

Since last fall, Allard has worked diligently to end the city's COVID-19-related Emergency Orders and is staunchly against mandating mask-wearing or any other city-mandated safety measure that might keep people safe. Zaletel supports masking, social distancing, and other recommended mitigation strategies designed to protect public health.
The resolution — laid on the table this evening — passed 10-1, with only Allard voting against it.
