Alaska Community Input Session on Police Accountability

Alaska Community Input Session on Police Accountability

The ACLU of Alaska and its partners will hold a community input session on police accountability Saturday, March 5 from 4-6 p.m. at the Mountain View library. The event will also be available on Zoom for those who wish to participate remotely.

A description for the event states that accountability for police violence in Alaska is long overdue and that communities deserve basic tools of accountability & transparency such as body worn camera footage.

Anchorage voters approved the purchase of body worn cameras during last year's spring election, but Anchorage Police Department Chief Michael Kerle said earlier this month that the department was still sorting through the issues involved with implementing the policy.

There's not a lot of additional information about the community input session in today's announcement, but an associated event page can be found here.

Individuals interested in attending the event remotely can sign up via Zoom at this link.
