AEA Bargaining Team asks for "presence and support" at tomorrow's rally

Via email:

The AEA Bargaining Team is asking for your presence and support tomorrow, Tuesday, October 19th at 5:30 PM.

Come rally at the ASD Ed Center and demonstrate our solidarity during contract negotiations. Our brothers and sisters with TOTEM will be joining us for the rally to show our solidarity and demand fair contracts for all ASD educators.

At the rally with a strong showing tomorrow, you’ll have the opportunity to support your bargaining team by:

  • Providing public and written testimony to the ASD School Board: You’ll need to sign up by 2:00 PM on October 19 to be included.
  • Rallying with other ASD educators, families, and community members in the Ed Center parking lot
  • Listening to testimony, writing letters to the ASD School Board, and picking up buttons, solidarity stickers, and more.

We stand together in solidarity. We must speak with a loud, clear voice that a 0%/0%/0% proposal is insulting. Proposing to take away grading, assessment, and planning days is insulting. Proposing to reduce instruction planning time is insulting.

The bottom line: AEA educators deserve a fair contract now! To make this event as safe as possible for all participants we’ll be following all CDC and Municipality of Anchorage guidelines for covid-19 mitigation. We’ll be social distancing while outside for the rally and masking up once we head indoors.

Thank you for showing up to support your bargaining team.

In Solidary,

Corey Aist, President, AEA
